Attend Raila’s Demonstrations In Your Individual Capacity, Uhuru’s Jubilee Party Tells All Officials

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party has told all its party officials across the country, that they should (if they have to) attend Raila Odinga’s demonstrations in the capital scheduled on Monday in their individual capacity, and not as the party.

In a statement that the party issued on Saturday, 18 March, all the party offices will remain closed on that day, but officials should attend the event in their individual capacity.

“I urge you as party officials and in your individual capacity to turn up and shore up support to the People’s grand march on that day. Mungu mbele, Mbele Pamoja! Yours faithfully, Hon. Jeremiah Ng’ayu Kioni,” read the letter in part as written by the party Secretary General.

Notably, the party SG, Jeremia Kioni has declared that their offices across the country shall remain closed on Monday, 20th of March, after Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga declared the day a public holiday.

“Please note that Monday the 20th of March, 2023 is to be considered a public holiday. As such our Headquarters at Jubilee House, Kileleshwa as well as all our county, constituency and ward offices will remain closed,” Kioni added.

Raila will be leading a team of Azimio supporters and leaders on that day as they hold peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi. Raila wants to use the demos to force the government to meet their demands

Some of the demands that Raila issued to the government included lowering the prices of basic goods such as unga and generally the cost of living, reducing taxes for Kenyans, bringing back all the subsidies that Ruot cancelled after taking over from Uhuru Kenyatta, stopping intimidating the four IEBC commissioners, opening the server to determine who won the 2022 presidential election among other demands
