Woman Narrated How Kalenjin Man ‘Grabbed’ Her Car After Ruto’s Swearing in Ceremony
A woman identified as Mary Njeri from Nakuru has narrated how she lost a car to a man by the name Benard Kimeto immediately after president Ruto’s swearing in ceremony.
Speaking to lawyer Wahome Thuku through WhatsApp audio messages, Mary said that she worked in Saudi Arabia for 9 years. After coming to Kenya in 2021, she decided to buy a probox on hire purchase. She was hopeful that it would help her make extra income and become financially stable.
After buying it, she hired Benard to drive it. They got a job to carry school going children. Everything went on well for months but after president Ruto’s swearing in ceremony, Kimeto claimed that they had taken over the government and he would never give her back the car.
Mary immediately reported the issue to the DCI. After tracking, Kimeto was arrested by released after one day.
Mary received a call from Kimeto’s brother who is an ex police officer. He said that she would never get her car back.
8 months down the line, Mary has not been able to get her car back. The last time she spoke to detectives handling the case, they advised her to follow up for compensation from her insurance company.
They also alleged that Kimeto said he had bought the probox from her.
Mary wonders why police have not yet arrested Kimeto so that he can give back the car yet she knows his home. She says that she suffered while working and saving money to make her life better but her only investment has been taken away from her.
She hopes to get help to follow up the case so that she can get her car back. Kimeto and his brother already removed the car’s tracker.
