Kenyan journalist appointed new IGAD spokesperson

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 19 – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has appointed Patience Nyange as its new spokesperson.

In a statement the authority stated that Nyange will serve under the office of the Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu.

“We are thrilled to announce and welcome @NyangePatience to the #IGAD family effective March 2024. Patience Nyange joins our team as the Spokesperson, Office of the Executive Secretary, H.E.@DrWorkneh,” IGAD pointed out in a statement posted on X.

The authority, on Tuesday said it had tapped into Nyange’s expertise in the field of communication to boost its voice across the world.

“With her many years of experience, expertise, and passion for effective communication, we are poised to elevate our voice and mission not only in the region but globally. Welcome aboard, we wish you all the best in your journey with us.”

Speaking from her Djibouti office, Nyange described it as “an honour and privilege to serve at IGAD. I will represent my country well.”

Before joining IGAD, Nyange worked as the Executive Director of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK).
