DPP recommends Joe Mfalme’s bouncer be charged with murder

Update:

The DPP has recommended that the 1st accused Allan Ochieng, Joe Mfalme’s bouncer, be charged with the murder of Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian.

The Director of Public Prosecution Renson Mulele has further recommended that DJ Joe Mfalme and 5 other co-accused become state witnesses.

Joseph Mwenda, popularly known as DJ Joe Mfalme will be arraigned in court alongside six other accused for the death of Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian.

This comes 14 days after his first appearance in which the Kibera court granted the police’s request to hold him pending investigations.

The deejay will appear in court alongside Allan Ochieng, his bouncer Eric Kariuki Gathua, his driver Simon Wambugu and police officers; Sammy Rotich Cherono, Khadija Abdi Wako and Agnes Kerubo Mugo.

Kenyan DJ Joseph Mwenda, popularly known as Joe Mfalme, has been arraigned in court following his arrest over the death of Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian.

The music deejay appeared at the Kibera Law courts alongside his crew and other police officers implicated in the incident. Mfalme’s crew; Allan Ochieng, his bouncer Eric Kariuki Gathua, his driver Simon Wambugu and the police officers; Sammy Rotich Cherono, Khadija Abdi Wako and Agnes Kerubo Mugo.

The arraignment comes after Mfalme released a statement stating his willingness to cooperate with authorities to investigate the death.

“We place our trust in God Almighty in particular and the authorities in general to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation aimed at uncovering the truth,” he said in a statement.

DJ Joe Mfalme alongside his crew were taken into custody for allegedly assaulting Kabete Police Station Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian on March 16, 2024.

Inspector Kelian succumbed to his injuries on Friday while receiving treatment at the Nairobi West Hospital.
