NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 20 — Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators disrupted transport along the Narok-Nakuru Highway Tuesday morning after staging a protest over delayed repair works.
Police said that the members of the Narok Matatu Drivers Association barricaded the road at Olopito area, approximately 5 kilometers north of Narok Police Station, at around 10:30 a.m. demanding an audience with senior officials regarding the stalled repair works.
The Matatu drivers expressed frustration over the prolonged delay by the contractor to fix the section of the road that has caused multiple fatalities due to potholes.
They argued that the delay in repair has continued to endanger lives.
Police said the matter was resolved peacefully to allow the resumption of traffic flow.
“The team of officers led by Narok Central DCC, DCIO, CI Erick Opiyo Ochieng, and OCS Narok rushed to the scene and managed to calm the rioters, restoring normalcy,” read a police report obtained by Capital News.
