PICTURE STORY: Obasanjo meets President Ruto after endorsing Raila for top AU job

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 15 – Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasnjo today met with President William Ruto hours after endorsing opposition leader Raila Odinga for the post of the African Union Commission chairman.

According to Obasanjo, it is the right time for a person from Eastern Africa to head the AU Commission and he believes Raila will be a viable candidate.

While expressing interest in the post, Odinga declared that he is ready for the job after extensive consultations.

The Jeremiah Kioni-led faction of the Jubilee party while reacting to this stated that the Azimio coalition will not be weakened by Odinga’s bid.
