Royal Golf Club wins Tannahil Shield

Royal Nairobi Golf Club emerged winners of the 99th Edition of  Tannahill Shield golf tournament held at the par-72 Royal golf course. 

The tournament, renowned as one of sub-Saharan Africa’s most prestigious amateur golf events, witnessed intense competition among nine formidable teams from Nairobi, Mombasa, and the Western region.

The hosts, Royal Nairobi Golf Club, reclaimed the championship after a five-year hiatus, securing a total of 39 points. The fended off stiff competition from the Western Combined Team who secured a commendable second place with 38 points, closely followed by Muthaiga Golf Club with 36 points.

Sigona Golf Club, the defending champions, showcased their resilience with a strong performance, securing the fourth position with 33 points while Kenya Railway Golf Club and Vetlab Sports Club also delivered notable performances, claiming the fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Amidst the impressive lineup of teams, Mombasa Golf Club emerged as a standout contender, displaying promising talent and determination throughout the tournament.

Supported by NCBA,the Mombasa team showcased a commendable performance, securing 28 points and finishing seventh overall.

Expressing optimism for the future, Eric Nyongesa, the team manager of Mombasa Golf Club, remarked, “This year’s Tannahill Shield tournament saw some of the most intense competition we’ve witnessed in recent years. We’re incredibly proud of our team’s performance, and while we didn’t secure the top spot, we’re already working hard to improve for next year. We’re very grateful for NCBA’s support this year, which has been instrumental in our journey.”
