Kenya has bid farewell to the outgoing South Sudan Ambassador to Kenya, Chol M. U. Ajongo, whose tenure in the country has come to an end.<\/p>\n
During a farewell event at State House, Nairobi, President William Ruto commended the ambassador for his dedication and the strong ties between Kenya and South Sudan during his service.<\/p>\n
President Ruto emphasized that Kenya would continue to work closely with South Sudan and other allies in the Horn of Africa to combat terrorism and organized crime.<\/p>\n
He reiterated Kenya\u2019s commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region, ensuring the success of all involved nations.<\/p>\n
In a separate event at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto met with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Zephaniah Charumbira, and other officials to discuss the future of the African Union (AU).<\/p>\n\n
He stressed the need for institutional reforms within the AU to better serve its 55 member states.<\/p>\n
Ruto highlighted that the AU Commission should be given more decision-making authority, while the Pan-African Parliament should be granted oversight and legislative powers over the Commission.<\/p>\n
The meeting underscored Kenya\u2019s commitment to strengthening continental cooperation and empowering African institutions to address the challenges faced by the region, including security and governance.<\/p>\n
Both events at State House showcased Kenya\u2019s leadership in promoting regional stability and advocating for a stronger, more effective African Union.<\/p>\n
