Celebrated Kenyan photographer, Mutua Matheka is set to begin showcasing his work of the Nairobi skyline on October 25.<\/p>\n
Taking place at Nairobi\u2019s Junction Mall Silo, this exhibition called \u2018Fragments, introduces audiences to a reimagined vision of Nairobi\u2019s skyline.<\/p>\n
Renowned for his breathtaking architectural photography, Matheka captures Nairobi from his unique vantage point\u2014one that lays bare the city\u2019s complexity, vibrancy, and beauty.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis show is an invitation to step into my Nairobi; what I see when I\u2019m up there [on the rooftops], and how it plays out in my mind\u2019s greatest imaginations of grandeur\u201d, said Matheka of the exhibition.<\/p>\n
\u201cA city that can be brutal and kind, ethereal and tragic. Step into my version of the chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n
This introspective perspective, woven through Matheka\u2019s stunning timelapse and skyscape shots, allows guests to experience Nairobi\u2019s \u201cfragments\u201d\u2014the layered and, at times, conflicting qualities that make the city unique.<\/p>\n
The exhibition uses innovative mirror and light installations, turning the gallery into a \u201cliving, moving kaleidoscope\u201d with music, video, and soundscapes that echo the pulse of Nairobi.<\/p>\n
The result is a sensory experience where audiences feel as if they\u2019re in the very locations Matheka photographed, with the city\u2019s sounds and rhythm fully immersing them.<\/p>\n
\u2018Fragments\u2019 will run through November 10, 2024, with shows held daily from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
Opening night tickets are priced at KSh, 3,000, with tickets on other days available at KSh. 1,000.<\/p>\n
