On the heels of a trail-blazing year, Afro-Indie sensation Njerae has earned a nomination for the Africa Choice Awards.<\/p>\n
In the highly competitive \u201cUnderground Artist of the Year\u201d category, Njerae will face Chirose (Nigeria), Moliy (Ghana), Andrea Fortuin (South Africa), Gdzilla (Nigeria), Taves (Nigeria), Smada (Nigeria), Tariq (Nigeria), Raebel (Nigeria) and tg.blk (Kenya).<\/p>\n
This will be the ACA\u2019s sixth edition.<\/p>\n
This recognition celebrates Njerae\u2019s unique sound, lyrical prowess, and dedication to representing Africa\u2019s rich culture through her music.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis nomination came as such a surprise\u2014I wasn\u2019t expecting it at all.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so honored to be nominated alongside such outstanding artists.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a stamp that it\u2019s truly #mwakawanjerae,\u201d Njerae shared.<\/p>\n
According to her record label, in the past year, Njerae\u2019s records \u201cOTD\u201d and \u201cAki Sioni\u201d have accumulated up to over 2,000,000 streams across all platforms.<\/p>\n
The latter has eclipsed over 10,000 all time Shazam\u2019s and stayed afloat on Kenya\u2019s Top 100 Kenyan charts for well over two years speaking to the longevity of her music.<\/p>\n
Her album \u2018Unintentional\u2019 has also been an indomitable force maintaining its staying power on the charts remaining Top 50 two years on revealing her timelessness and dexterity in capturing music that can stand the test of time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have to thank God, the team and my fans. I will celebrate if I win and it\u2019s back to the studio to do what I love, which is making music and making people happy through tha,\u201d Njerae added.<\/p>\n
Njerae\u2019s musical journey, characterized by soulful melodies and authentic African beats, has captivated fans not only in Kenya but across the continent.<\/p>\n
Her Afro-Indie sound is a blend of folk, afrobeats, and modern indie influences, creating a distinctive sonic identity that resonates with a diverse audience.<\/p>\n
