In a joint operation, police officers from Mtwapa Police Station, along with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers from Mombasa, have arrested two Tanzanian nationals involved in the illegal ivory trade.<\/p>\n
Acting on a tip-off, authorities arrested Paul Kuya, 36, and Paul Telek, 29, at a hideout in Mtwapa\u2019s Majengo area.<\/p>\n
According to a statement,\u00a0 during the operation, officers recovered eleven elephant tusks, weighing a total of 32.924 kilograms and valued at approximately Ksh.3.3 million.<\/p>\n

The tusks had been concealed in nylon sacks within three separate bags.<\/p>\n
Investigations revealed that the suspects had traveled from Tanzania to Kenya through the Namanga border, intending to sell the ivory in the local market.<\/p>\n
The seized elephant tusks are now in secure custody as evidence, with further investigations underway to trace potential buyers and other parties involved in the illegal trade.<\/p>\n
Authorities reiterated their commitment to cracking down on wildlife trafficking and protecting Kenya\u2019s endangered species.<\/p>\n
