Five people died in a fatal road accident Friday morning along the Karatina-Sagana route in Kirinyaga County.<\/p>\n
Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Koskei said the accident occurred after a trailer ferrying bags of maize en route to Sagana collided with two private vehicles heading towards Karatina.<\/p>\n
Those injured were rushed to hospital for medical attention. Investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident are underway.<\/p>\n
Witnesses reported that the overloaded lorry overturned after the driver lost control.<\/p>\n
They are calling on authorities to erect more speed bumps at the busy Kibirigwi centre to help prevent such incidents in the future.<\/p>\n
