Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reassured city residents of an imminent solution to the city\u2019s deteriorating road network, promising joint efforts between the County Government and the National Government.<\/p>\n
Speaking before the Senate\u2019s County Public Accounts and Investments Committee Sakaja outlined a collaborative plan with the Ministry of Transport to rehabilitate roads under the jurisdiction of the County, KURA, KeRRA, and KeNHA.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I got into office the first year we did Ksh735 million worth of roads and this last year we have done Ksh950 million worth of roads. We have been able to sit down with the national government on the need to prioritise roads some of which fall under its purview,\u201d Sakaja Stated.<\/p>\n
During the session, senators pressed Sakaja on the specific timelines for the project and whether there were measures to prevent future road damage caused by heavy trucks.<\/p>\n
Senators in particular, questioned why certain city roads had been left in disrepair for months despite available funding.<\/p>\n
