This partnership with Eswatini marks another significant step in our mission to support Africa’s renewable energy ambitions and mitigate the effects of climate change.” said Chief Executive Officer Peter Njenga.

Early this year, KenGen signed the contract with the state-owned Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) for the development of a geothermal power plant as the country seeks to harness the renewable energy to support its economic growth.

Through the project, Eswatini also targets to achieve energy security and support sustainable development in a bid to combat climate change.

“I am optimistic that our geoscientific studies will confirm the viability of Eswatini’s geothermal resources, enabling the country to increase its renewable energy portfolio and enhance its baseload capacity.
