Kenyan-American singer, rapper, dancer, and award-winning creative director Vallerie Muthoni, also known as Brown Suga<\/em>, announced the release of\u00a0her latest single \u201cShake<\/em>\u201d on December 6th.<\/p>\n

Shake<\/em> is a dance anthem that incorporates hip-hop, riddim, dancehall, and gengetone in perfect congruence.<\/p>\n

The club banger has the familiar swagger of Lil Maina and the incredible panache of the rising Kenyan pop star Kahvinya.<\/p>\n

It is a pulse-bounding and danceable tune with an earworm chorus typical of most gengetone anthems.<\/p>\n

The track is an irresistible invitation to let loose whether it\u2019s in the barber shop, your crib, or on the road to your favourite hangout spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a winning recipe of an infectious hook, fire verses and melodies and that beat,\u201d shared Vallerie Muthoni.<\/p>\n

Vallerie Muthoni believes \u201cShake<\/em>\u201d has the potential to be the next big gengetone hit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis track is the perfect anthem to put on blast when you just want to move your body and have a great time,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt reminds the listener that it doesn\u2019t matter who you are, where you\u2019re from, and what you do. In this moment of time you can\u00a0be present and absolutely let loose however you choose,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The foundation was laid in 2020 when Gengetone was hitting headlines.<\/p>\n

However, for Vallerie Muthoni, this was not a track to be rushed.<\/p>\n

She received the beats from the producer duo, Pesos and Dencho, who alongside Awe Killer, helped co-produce her recent body of work, \u2018Vision 2020<\/em>\u2019, an EP that captures her life and voice in a rapidly evolving world post-COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe song existed in the archives for the past two years but I felt this was the year we needed to share it with the world,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

Vallerie Muthoni\u2019s musical career started in early 2017 when she released her first single in collaboration with former schoolmate and friend Mbithi.<\/p>\n

At just 17, she was listed among the four Homeboyz\u2019s \u2018Jumpoff Freshman Class of 2018,\u2019 <\/strong>being the only female newbie of that year.<\/p>\n

She would later work on two EPs in two years consecutively; The Wavy Soul<\/em>,\u2019 (2018) and \u2018Pisces SZN<\/em>,\u2019 (2019).<\/p>\n

After a long while in the vault, Vallerrie Muthoni released \u2018Vision 2020\u2019 that would announce her comeback to the game.<\/p>\n

As \u2018Shake\u2019 hits the airwaves, Muthoni is set to continue with a tour of her EP Vision 2020<\/em> across Africa and the world.<\/p>\n

She will also direct more visuals for the EP and collaborate with other artists in Africa.<\/p>\n
