NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 12<\/strong> \u2013 President Adama Barrow of The Gambia has lauded Kenya\u2019s contributions to international peace and stability.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking during Kenya\u2019s 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi on Thursday, President Barrow praised Kenya\u2019s leadership in peacekeeping efforts and its pivotal role in promoting regional and continental integration.<\/p>\n

President Barrow, who was the Chief Guest at the event, highlighted Kenya\u2019s current peacekeeping mission in Haiti and its fight against terrorism as emblematic of the country\u2019s commitment to peace and stability.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenya\u2019s dedication to peacekeeping in Africa and other parts of the world is a testament to the nation\u2019s commitment to creating a prosperous and integrated Africa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the significance of reflecting on Kenya\u2019s journey since attaining independence in 1963 and the broader impact it has had on Africa\u2019s liberation movements.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Gambian people, I congratulate you all on this auspicious occasion and pay tribute to the visionary leadership and tenacity of Kenya\u2019s founding fathers,\u201d President Barrow remarked.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on Kenya\u2019s broader contributions, President Barrow commended the strides made in governance, democracy, and regional security.<\/p>\n

He noted that since attaining independence, Kenya has emerged as a key player in Africa\u2019s integration agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenya\u2019s diplomatic journey has earned the nation a respected voice in matters affecting our continent and beyond,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Gambian leader also applauded Kenya\u2019s efforts in addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, trade, and development.<\/p>\n

He highlighted these achievements as benchmarks for other nations to emulate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe strides you have made in addressing these issues set a precedent for the continent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On economic collaboration, President Barrow praised Kenya\u2019s trade relations with various African nations, describing them as a shining example of Pan-Africanism.<\/p>\n

He further recognized Kenya\u2019s rich cultural diversity and its role in fostering unity and understanding among Africa\u2019s ethnic groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cCulturally, Kenya has enriched African society while fostering respect and understanding among diverse communities,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

However, President Barrow underscored the persistent challenges of underdevelopment across the continent, emphasizing the need for collaboration between countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur challenge lies in finding solutions to the paradox of underdevelopment,\u201d he noted, urging African nations to build on Kenya\u2019s example in addressing these issues.<\/p>\n
