{"id":106496,"date":"2024-12-30T10:03:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-30T10:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/12\/30\/ndiritu-muriithi-sworn-in-as-new-kra-chairperson\/"},"modified":"2024-12-30T10:03:33","modified_gmt":"2024-12-30T10:03:33","slug":"ndiritu-muriithi-sworn-in-as-new-kra-chairperson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/ndiritu-muriithi-sworn-in-as-new-kra-chairperson\/","title":{"rendered":"Ndiritu Muriithi sworn in as new KRA chairperson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) new Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi says he will focus on building trust by institutionalising a service culture based on trust across its touch points with its clients.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking after his swearing in by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Winfridah Boyani Mokaya\u00a0<span>at the Supreme Court<\/span>, the former Laikipia Governor rallied his call on how to build trust between the tax collector and taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>His call coming after 25 Kenya Revenue Authority employees were dismissed on charges of unethical conduct during the months of July, August and September this year.<\/p>\n<p>He says the disciplinary measures that the KRA is implementing is meant to uphold integrity, ensure accountability, and enhance public confidence in the tax administration system.<\/p>\n<p>Muriithi says the tax collector will not relent in reforming its client facing services as it seeks to model itself similar to major global tax collecting agencies.<\/p>\n<p>KRA has offered tax defaulters a six-month tax amnesty to settle any tax arrears accrued until 31st\u00a0December 2023 to benefit from a waiver of interest and penalties.<\/p>\n<p>Muriithi was named Chairperson of the KRA Board as part of President William Ruto\u2019s latest reshuffle of senior government positions announced on December 19, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment comes as the government intensifies efforts to expand the country\u2019s tax base.
