Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has assured the nation that the Ministry of Education is fully prepared to facilitate the smooth transition of Grade 8 students to Grade 9 under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).<\/p>\n
Speaking in Rongena Manaret, Sotik, Bomet County, the CS revealed that the government has completed the construction of 13,500 Grade 9 classrooms, with an additional 2,500 set to be finalized by the end of the month.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ministry is committed to ensuring a seamless transition for all learners. The classrooms are ready, and we are putting the final touches on the remaining facilities to accommodate the students,\u201d Ogamba stated.<\/p>\n
Addressing the status of boarding schools flagged for not meeting safety standards, the CS noted that those which have adhered to the ministry\u2019s regulations will be permitted to reopen.<\/p>\n
However, those that fail to comply will remain closed until they meet the required safety benchmarks.<\/p>\n
On the issue of the government\u2019s 100 per cent transition policy, Ogamba emphasized that the ministry is collaborating closely with local administration officers to ensure no learner drops out of school following the long festive break.<\/p>\n
He reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to education access and equity for all learners.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working hand in hand with local administrators to ensure all learners are back in school and no child is left behind during this critical transition period,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Grade 8 to Grade 9 transition marks a pivotal moment in Kenya\u2019s education reforms, and the ministry has assured parents, teachers, and stakeholders of its readiness to support learners at every step.<\/p>\n
