{"id":107365,"date":"2025-01-09T10:04:29","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T10:04:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/01\/09\/ichungwah-hammers-natembeyas-fragile-ego-dares-him-to-sue\/"},"modified":"2025-01-09T10:04:29","modified_gmt":"2025-01-09T10:04:29","slug":"ichungwah-hammers-natembeyas-fragile-ego-dares-him-to-sue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/ichungwah-hammers-natembeyas-fragile-ego-dares-him-to-sue\/","title":{"rendered":"Ichung\u2019wah hammers Natembeya\u2019s \u2018fragile ego\u2019, dares him to sue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 9<\/strong> \u2014 National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung\u2019wah has dismissed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya\u2019s threats of legal action, asserting that the former Regional Commissioer has a \u201cfragile ego\u201d and a reputation that cannot be defamed.<\/p>\n<p>Ichung\u2019wah\u2019s stance follows Natembeya\u2019s claims of defamation over remarks made during a public event in Bungoma on January 3, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Through his lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, Ichung\u2019wa refuted the accusations, stating that the comments were made publicly in the presence of a large audience and with Natembeya\u2019s visible endorsement.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Endorsement\u2019 <\/h2>\n<p>Kamotho, in a response on Thursday, asserted that Governor was seen smiling and nodding as Ichung\u2019waH addressed the crowd, suggesting that he could not later claim to have been defamed by statements he had seemingly agreed with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time our client spoke, your client was present and could be seen smiling and nodding enthusiastically in affirmation, as our client injected facts in appropriate doses,\u201d Kamotho noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour client cannot purport to have been defamed by content delivered in his presence, which he excitedly cheered and amenably endorsed,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>The dispute stems from Ichung\u2019wah\u2019s accusations that Natembeya, who was part of the previous administration, presided over enforced disappearances, including killings in the infamous Yala River incident.<\/p>\n<p>Natembeya, who was in attendance at the event, issued a demand letter for a public apology, warning that legal consequences would follow if one was not provided.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ichung\u2019wah standing firm, argued that Natembeya\u2019s attempt to initiate legal action stems from personal affront rather than legitimate grounds for defamation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 9 \u2014 National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung\u2019wah has dismissed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya\u2019s threats of legal action, asserting that the former Regional Commissioer has a \u201cfragile ego\u201d and a reputation that cannot be defamed.
