The Chairman of Kenya\u2019s Local Organising Committee for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), Nicholas Musonye, and CEO Myke Rabar concluded their tour of Dar es Salaam on Wednesday evening and are pleased with the progress in Tanzania\u2019s preparations for the tournament set for August 2nd to 30th this year. <\/p>\n
The two officials visited competition and training venues in the Tanzanian capital and also attended the signing of a sponsorship extension between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and French petroleum company TotalEnergies at the Dar Hyatt Hotel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy with the co-ordination between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in preparations for the tournament,\u201d Musonye said. \u201cWe have visited Dar\u2019s competition venue, the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, and training grounds for the Chan competition and I must say, as the three nations, we are all set for the competition even if it were to be held in the initial dates in February. It\u2019s now basically working on the finishing touches and promotion,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n
The Chan tournament was initially set to kick off this weekend (February 1) across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, but CAF postponed the tournament to August to allow the host nations more time to prepare. Kenya has been drawn in Group \u2018A\u2019 alongside Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia, and Angola.<\/p>\n
