{"id":109933,"date":"2025-02-07T13:03:42","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T13:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/02\/07\/kbc-fraternity-mourns-mambo-mbotela\/"},"modified":"2025-02-07T13:03:42","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T13:03:42","slug":"kbc-fraternity-mourns-mambo-mbotela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/kbc-fraternity-mourns-mambo-mbotela\/","title":{"rendered":"KBC fraternity mourns Mambo Mbotela"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) fraternity is mourning the death of veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela.<\/p>\n<p>Mbotela, born in 1940, passed away at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment, at 9 am on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>KBC Managing Director Agnes Kalekye led the corporation in paying tribute to Mbotela, who worked with KBC for over 58 years, describing him as \u201ca true legend in our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe dedicated his life to broadcasting, inspiring countless individuals with his passion, integrity, and commitment to excellence,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Kalekye noted that Mbotela transformed the way KBC connected with its audiences. She noted that the celebrated broadcaster left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of many through his \u2018Je Huu ni Ungwana\u2019 programme, and he will forever be remembered and cherished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us come together in honouring his remarkable legacy and the profound impact he had on all of us,\u201d the KBC boss said.<\/p>\n<p>The Corporation\u2019s Editor in Chief, Samuel Maina, expressed his sadness at the passing of \u201cour legendary broadcast giant, Leonard Mambo Mbotela.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maina described Mbotela as a powerful and authoritative voice in broadcasting, who paved the way for many in the fields of broadcasting and journalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cherish the many times I interacted with him both inside and outside the Broadcasting House. He was full of wisdom, illuminating energy, and was a very humble man,\u201d said the Editor in Chief.<\/p>\n<p>KBC Radio Programmes Manager Mary Daraja praised Mbotela\u2019s contributions throughout his time at the national broadcaster, both to the staff and audiences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven after his retirement, he continued to inspire audiences through his iconic programme, Je Huu ni Ungwana? Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,\u201d Daraja stated.<\/p>\n<p>While mourning Mambo Mbotela, former KBC Editor in Chief Vitalis Musebe said, \u201cNaomba nitoe rambi rambi zangu kwa familia yake. Nilimjua kama mtangazaji hodari na mtu mwenye maadili mema.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On her part, former KBC Swahili News Anchor and Producer Pauline Shegu said she will remember Mbotela for his captivating football commentaries on radio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor a generation that grew up with the radio as their primary source of entertainment, Leonard Mambo Mbotela\u2019s voice will forever resonate in our memories.
