{"id":110096,"date":"2025-02-09T13:02:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-09T13:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/02\/09\/rwandan-community-in-kenya-marks-national-heroes-day-with-call-to-uphold-patriotism\/"},"modified":"2025-02-09T13:02:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-09T13:02:52","slug":"rwandan-community-in-kenya-marks-national-heroes-day-with-call-to-uphold-patriotism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/rwandan-community-in-kenya-marks-national-heroes-day-with-call-to-uphold-patriotism\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandan community in Kenya marks National Heroes\u2019 Day with call to uphold patriotism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 \u2013 The Rwandan community in Kenya, alongside friends of Rwanda, gathered at the residence of the High Commissioner in Nairobi on Saturday to commemorate National Heroes\u2019 Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The annual event provided an opportunity to reflect on the legacy and values of Rwanda\u2019s heroes and explore ways to embody them in everyday life.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the celebration, Rwanda\u2019s High Commissioner to Kenya, Martin Ngoga, urged Rwandans in Kenya to uphold heroic values by working hard, making the right choices, fighting injustices, and fostering unity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-09-at-3.33.10-PM-scaled.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that heroism is not limited to the past but is a continuous responsibility for every Rwandan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a hero does not require performing miracles\u2014it means choosing to do what is right in difficult times, standing for the truth, fighting injustice, prioritizing the common good over personal interests, and genuinely loving our country,\u201d Ambassador Ngoga stated during the event that was also attended by the members of the diplomatic corp.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s celebration, marking the 31st anniversary of National Heroes\u2019 Day, was held under the theme: \u201cHeroism and Unity, for Rwanda\u2019s Development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Ngoga pointed out that the event serves as a reminder that each person has a role to play in advancing Rwanda\u2019s progress, whether through leadership, entrepreneurship, education, or community service.<\/p>\n<p>Ngoga also reflected on Rwanda\u2019s post-1994 Genocide reconstruction efforts, crediting the Government of National Unity for prioritizing values such as unity, patriotism, hard work, and sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>While Rwanda has made significant strides over the past three decades, he acknowledged ongoing challenges and called for a collective effort to uphold the spirit of heroism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-09-at-3.33.11-PM-scaled.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quoting President Paul Kagame\u2019s message for National Heroes\u2019 Day, Ngoga reiterated that heroism is a duty for all: \u201cIt is the responsibility of everyone, young and old, to confront the challenges we face with integrity, to stand firm in truth, and to keep building our country beyond what others may expect of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He urged the younger generation to embrace the values of past heroes and work toward a prosperous and secure Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Defence Attach\u00e9 Col Celestin Kamanda provided a historical perspective on heroism in Rwanda, detailing the sacrifices made by past heroes.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed the importance of patriotism and selflessness in shaping the country\u2019s future.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 \u2013 The Rwandan community in Kenya, alongside friends of Rwanda, gathered at the residence of the High Commissioner in Nairobi on Saturday to commemorate National Heroes\u2019 Day.
