{"id":112687,"date":"2025-03-29T15:03:08","date_gmt":"2025-03-29T15:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/03\/29\/police-arrest-husband-of-a-17-year-old-child-murdered-in-wajir\/"},"modified":"2025-03-29T15:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T15:03:08","slug":"police-arrest-husband-of-a-17-year-old-child-murdered-in-wajir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/police-arrest-husband-of-a-17-year-old-child-murdered-in-wajir\/","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest \u2018husband\u2019 of a 17-year-old child murdered in Wajir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 29 \u2013 The National Police Service (NPS) has arrested three main suspects, including the alleged \u2018husband,\u2019 in connection with the tragic death of 17-year-old Gaala Adan in Wajir County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The suspets reportedly murdered the girl for refusing to marry the 55-year-old man.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Saturday, NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the police was processing the three suspects for arraignment in court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile investigators must be allowed to piece together all the circumstances that led to this tragic death without prejudice, NPS deeply regrets the loss of life and extends its condolences to the victim\u2019s family,\u201d said Nyaga.<\/p>\n<p>Nyaga urged the public to abandon harmful cultural practices and allow children to enjoy their childhood.<\/p>\n<p>The NPS Spokesperson reaffirmed the service\u2019s commitment to maintaining law and order.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) condemned the killing, describing it as a horrifying example of gender-based violence and calling for urgent action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForced marriages are illegal.
