{"id":112861,"date":"2025-04-01T16:04:46","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T16:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/04\/01\/dpp-approves-manslaughter-charges-against-body-by-design-clinic-proprietors-over-patients-death\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T16:04:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T16:04:46","slug":"dpp-approves-manslaughter-charges-against-body-by-design-clinic-proprietors-over-patients-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/dpp-approves-manslaughter-charges-against-body-by-design-clinic-proprietors-over-patients-death\/","title":{"rendered":"DPP approves manslaughter charges against \u2018Body by Design\u2019 Clinic proprietors over patient\u2019s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 1\u2014 Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Renson Ingonga has approved manslaughter charges against \u2018Body by Design\u2019 Clinic proprietors following the death of Lucy Wambui Kananu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kananu died in October last year after a botched operation at Omnicare Medical Limited, also known as Body by Design Kabarsiran Avenue in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>Ingonga\u2019s office said that the four suspects will take plea on Wednesday at the Kibera Law Courts in Nairobi, in connection with the death of Lucy Wambui Kananu<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects\u2014Robert Maweu Mutula, a surgeon; George Wakaria Njoroge; Lilian Edna Wanjiru, the proprietor of Body by Design; and the Body by Design hospital\u2014failed to appear in court today[Tuesday],\u201d the ODPP said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ODPP, the suspects were initially scheduled to take their plea Tuesday missed the court appearance, prompting the court to reschedule the hearing to Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Principal Magistrate Temu directed the suspects to be in court by 9:00am.<\/p>\n<p>The Prosecution in the case is led by Maryanne Mwangi and Samson Ngetich.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 1\u2014 Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Renson Ingonga has approved manslaughter charges against \u2018Body by Design\u2019 Clinic proprietors following the death of Lucy Wambui Kananu.
