{"id":118174,"date":"2025-07-16T06:03:42","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T06:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/07\/16\/5-2mn-children-74000-with-zero-dose-record-get-measles-rubella-jab\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T06:03:42","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T06:03:42","slug":"5-2mn-children-74000-with-zero-dose-record-get-measles-rubella-jab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/5-2mn-children-74000-with-zero-dose-record-get-measles-rubella-jab\/","title":{"rendered":"5.2mn children, 74,000 with zero-dose record, get Measles Rubella jab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 16 \u2013 Over 5.18 million children have been vaccinated against Measles and Rubella (MR) in the just-concluded national immunization campaign, with 74,000 previously unvaccinated (zero-dose) children receiving protection for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Health said the figure represents 81 per cent coverage of its national MR vaccination target and highlights Kenya\u2019s growing ability to reach children in underserved areas. <\/p>\n<p>The 10-day campaign officially ended on Tusday after launching on July 5.<\/p>\n<p>Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale described the results as a national milestone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis campaign ensured that even the most vulnerable children\u2014those who had never received a single vaccine\u2014are now protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the MR vaccine, the campaign also administered the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) to 16.1 million children, reaching 84 per cent of the national target.<\/p>\n<p>The figure marked a sharp rise from the 12.1 million TCV vaccinations reported by July 13, just days before the campaign closed.<\/p>\n<p>Duale confirmed that the typhoid vaccine will now be available free of charge in all immunizing health facilities, boosting routine coverage even after the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry credited the success to collaboration among government agencies, development partners, and community networks, while warning against the dangers of vaccine misinformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaccines save lives, and their safety is backed by rigorous science,\u201d said Duale. \u201cLet us protect our children with facts, not fear.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 16 \u2013 Over 5.18 million children have been vaccinated against Measles and Rubella (MR) in the just-concluded national immunization campaign, with 74,000 previously unvaccinated (zero-dose) children receiving protection for the first time.
