{"id":119725,"date":"2025-08-14T07:09:51","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T07:09:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/08\/14\/china-stands-firm-against-maritime-intrusions-by-us-philippine-vessels\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T07:09:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T07:09:51","slug":"china-stands-firm-against-maritime-intrusions-by-us-philippine-vessels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/china-stands-firm-against-maritime-intrusions-by-us-philippine-vessels\/","title":{"rendered":"China stands firm against maritime intrusions by US, Philippine vessels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BEIJING, China, Aug 14 \u2014 China will not back down, but will instead more resolutely safeguard its national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, authorities and experts said, after the Philippines and the United States separately dispatched warships, warplanes and official vessels to intrude into the territorial waters and airspace of China\u2019s Huangyan Island within just two days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s Navy forces expelled a US destroyer that illegally intruded on Wednesday into China\u2019s territorial waters near Huangyan Island in the South China Sea, according to a spokesperson with the People\u2019s Liberation Army.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Captain He Tiecheng, a spokesperson for the naval forces of the PLA\u2019s Southern Theater Command, said in a statement that the US destroyer USS <em>Higgins<\/em> illegally entered China\u2019s territorial waters off Huangyan Island without the approval of the Chinese government. PLA Navy\u2019s South Sea Fleet released the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said that the theater command\u2019s Navy forces organized to track, monitor, issue warnings and expel the US warship in accordance with laws and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe actions of the US military seriously infringed upon China\u2019s sovereignty and security, severely undermined peace and stability in the South China Sea and contravened international law and basic norms governing international relations,\u201d He said, adding that the naval forces of the Southern Theater Command maintain high alert at all times.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the China Coast Guard expelled multiple Philippine Coast Guard vessels, government ships and so-called fishing boats from the territorial waters around Huangyan Island. Meanwhile, Philippine military aircraft also intruded into the airspace over Huangyan Island.<\/p>\n<p>Gan Yu, spokesman for the China Coast Guard, noted that the CCG took necessary measures in accordance with the law, including monitoring and blocking, to expel the Philippine vessels. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h2>\n<p>Gan emphasized that China\u2019s on-site operations were \u201cprofessional, standardized and legitimate\u201d, adding that the Philippine vessels had used the pretext of supplying fishing boats, ignoring China\u2019s repeated dissuasion and warnings and insisting on intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuangyan Island is China\u2019s inherent territory,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CCG will continue to conduct rights protection and law enforcement activities in the waters of Huangyan Island lawfully to firmly safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zhang Junshe, a former researcher at the PLA Naval Research Academy, said that the Philippines\u2019 deployment of various vessels and warplanes for intrusion indicated a \u201cpremeditated provocation\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Philippines aims to continuously intrude into the airspace and waters here in various ways to achieve a de facto long-term presence, thereby attempting to assert its so-called sovereignty, which will surely be met with China\u2019s strong countermeasures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian condemned the actions of the Philippines on Tuesday, saying that they seriously infringed on China\u2019s sovereignty and rights and interests, seriously harmed maritime peace and stability, and were of a malign nature.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deliberate infringements<\/h2>\n<p>Lin emphasized that the facts have proved once again that the Philippines\u2019 deliberate infringements and provocations at sea are the root causes of the tense situation.
