{"id":122996,"date":"2025-10-13T11:11:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T11:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/10\/13\/mps-driver-in-court-after-viral-traffic-outburst\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T11:11:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T11:11:16","slug":"mps-driver-in-court-after-viral-traffic-outburst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/mps-driver-in-court-after-viral-traffic-outburst\/","title":{"rendered":"MP\u2019s driver in court after viral traffic outburst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 13 \u2014 The driver of Kibra MP<\/strong> <strong>Peter Orero was on Monday arraigned in court to face traffic-related charges following a viral video that showed him driving on the wrong side of the road in Nairobi, as the legislator hurled insults at other motorists.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The incident, recorded by CNN journalist Larry Madowo on Thursday, captured the MP encouraging his driver to continue obstructing traffic and even daring the journalist to \u201ctake the video to President William Ruto,\u201d in an apparent display of impunity.<\/p>\n<p>Police had sought the driver on charges of careless driving, obstruction, and driving on the wrong side of the road, offences that contravene Kenya\u2019s Traffic Act. <\/p>\n<p>The National Police Service (NPS) fast-tracked the investigation after the clip sparked national outrage over the conduct of VIP convoys on public roads.<\/p>\n<p>NPS Spokesperson Michael Muchiri reiterated that only emergency and select official vehicles \u2014 including those for the President, Deputy President, and emergency services \u2014 are legally permitted to obstruct traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one is above the law.
