{"id":123262,"date":"2025-10-17T10:02:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/10\/17\/raila-was-at-peace-with-god-bishop-kodia-recalls-last-breakfast-with-raila\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T10:02:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:02:53","slug":"raila-was-at-peace-with-god-bishop-kodia-recalls-last-breakfast-with-raila","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/raila-was-at-peace-with-god-bishop-kodia-recalls-last-breakfast-with-raila\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Raila was at peace with God\u2019: Bishop Kodia recalls last breakfast with Raila"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 17 \u2014 Bondo Anglican Bishop Prof. David Kodia on Friday described the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga as \u201ca man at peace with God,\u201d recalling a recent encounter that revealed the veteran politician\u2019s calm spiritual readiness and humility in his final days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking during Raila\u2019s State Funeral at Nyayo National Stadium, Bishop Kodia said he had breakfast with Raila and Mama Ida Odinga barely a month ago \u2014 a meeting that left him convinced that the ODM leader had made peace with his Maker and lived a life anchored in faith, justice, and compassion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHardly a month ago, I had breakfast with Baba and Mama Ida,\u201d Bishop Kodia said. \u201cI saw a man who was ready to meet God at any time \u2014 a humble servant who had made peace with God in all he did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bishop praised Raila\u2019s lifelong dedication to truth and freedom, saying he used his influence not to enrich himself but to uplift others and advance the cause of democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRaila used his power effectively \u2014 to proclaim freedom, to liberate people from fear, and to inspire courage among Kenyans,\u201d he said. \u201cHe never used the power of money to intimidate people or lure followers. Instead, he won hearts through persuasion and conviction.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Looters condemned <\/h2>\n<p>Bishop Kodia contrasted Raila\u2019s leadership with what he called the \u201cbad manners\u201d of Kenya\u2019s current political class, lamenting the spread of a handout culture that has eroded integrity and genuine public service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we have very bad manners among our politicians. They have taught our people the culture of handouts, where one [is] only seen in terms of what they can give,\u201d he warned, drawing loud applause from mourners.<\/p>\n<p>He called for a national return to moral leadership and unity, urging Kenyans to honour Raila\u2019s legacy by rejecting corruption, tribalism, and greed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKenya is too small to be divided into tribes and regions,\u201d Bishop Kodia said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us see ourselves first as Kenyans, not as members of tribes or classes.
