May his soul rest in peace,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preserving legacies <\/h2>\n<p>President Faye also thanked President Ruto for the invitation to attend Mashujaa Day, describing it as a reflection of the deepening and strengthening of bilateral relations between Kenya and Senegal. <\/p>\n<p>He underscored the importance of celebrating Africa\u2019s freedom fighters and preserving their legacies through education, monuments, and research centres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am here for the duty of remembrance because our heroes deserve respect, honour, and admiration,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sons and daughters of Africa must be celebrated because it is an educational tool for the transmission of our values.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Faye\u2019s message echoed the broader Mashujaa Day 2025 theme, \u201cInnovating for Africa\u2019s Future,\u201d which highlighted the role of innovation, youth, and shared history in shaping Africa\u2019s next chapter.<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations, attended by Mozambique\u2019s Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy, took place amid a seven-day national mourning period following Raila Odinga\u2019s passing. <\/p>\n<p>Levy joined Faye in mourning Raila, hailing him as a \u201ctrue nationalist whose voice will continue to resonate across generations.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 21 \u2014 Senegalese President Diomaye Faye on Tuesday held bilateral talks with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, a day after gracing Kenya\u2019s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County as the chief guest.
