NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 26 \u2014 A group of Arsenal Football Club fans from across the country on Sunday made a symbolic pilgrimage to Kang\u2019o ka Jaramogi, the final resting place of the late Raila Amolo Odinga, to pay tribute to one of their own \u2014 a devoted Gunner whose passion for the North London side was as enduring as his political legacy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gathered at the Odinga family mausoleum in Bondo, Siaya County, the fans\u2014donning the club\u2019s iconic red and white jerseys\u2014laid wreaths and Arsenal scarves beside Raila\u2019s grave, singing club anthems and reciting chants in his honour.<\/p>\n

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) confirmed the visit, noting that Raila, who was buried on October 19, was a paid-up member and lifelong supporter of Arsenal FC.<\/p>\n

\u201cArsenal fans from across the country were this morning at Kang\u2019o ka Jaramogi to pay homage to their fellow Gunner, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga,\u201d the ODM Party said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u2018Once a Gunner, Always a Gunner\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Fans described the visit as both emotional and inspiring, saying they wanted to honour a man who had not only shaped Kenya\u2019s political landscape but also represented the spirit of resilience that defines Arsenal supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaila loved football, and he loved Arsenal,\u201d said George Ochieng<\/strong>, an Arsenal fan from Kisumu. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe embodied the club\u2019s motto \u2014 Victoria Concordia Crescit<\/em> (Victory through Harmony). Coming here is our way of saying farewell to a true Gunner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others placed miniature Arsenal flags and matchday programs at the grave, some recalling how Raila often shared his frustrations and joy over Arsenal\u2019s Premier League performances.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven during tough political seasons, he\u2019d talk about Arsenal\u2019s form,\u201d another fan recalled. \u201cIt showed how deeply human and passionate he was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the symbolism, the visit also reflected Raila\u2019s role in uniting Kenyans through sport. <\/p>\n

As Prime Minister and later opposition leader, Raila attended football matches by local clubs and the national team, his last being the Kenya vs Zambia CHAN clash the the Kasarani Stadium on August 17.<\/p>\n
