{"id":123941,"date":"2025-10-31T13:05:37","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T13:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/10\/31\/atwoli-urges-lecturers-universities-to-resolve-pay-dispute-amicably\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T13:05:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T13:05:37","slug":"atwoli-urges-lecturers-universities-to-resolve-pay-dispute-amicably","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/atwoli-urges-lecturers-universities-to-resolve-pay-dispute-amicably\/","title":{"rendered":"Atwoli Urges Lecturers, Universities to Resolve Pay Dispute Amicably"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 31 \u2014 The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has urged university lecturers and institutions of higher learning to soften their hardline positions and seek an amicable solution to the ongoing pay dispute.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Kisumu, Atwoli appealed to both parties to embrace dialogue, warning that prolonged industrial tension could disrupt learning and undermine the quality of education in public universities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCOTU is calling upon both the university managements and the lecturers\u2019 unions to sit down and reach a fair, mutually beneficial agreement,\u201d said Atwoli. \u201cIndustrial action should always be the last resort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the economic challenges facing the country require compromise and understanding, emphasizing that universities should uphold workers\u2019 rights while ensuring institutional stability.<\/p>\n<p>Atwoli also offered COTU\u2019s support in mediating the talks if needed, saying the organization remains committed to fostering fair labour practices and protecting the welfare of all workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us not let our universities grind to a halt.
