{"id":124733,"date":"2025-11-14T16:06:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T16:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2025\/11\/14\/president-ruto-hands-over-keys-to-176-new-homeowners-in-machakos\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T16:06:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T16:06:49","slug":"president-ruto-hands-over-keys-to-176-new-homeowners-in-machakos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/president-ruto-hands-over-keys-to-176-new-homeowners-in-machakos\/","title":{"rendered":"President Ruto Hands Over Keys to 176 New Homeowners in Machakos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MACHAKOS, Nov 14 \u2014 President William Ruto has handed over keys to 176 new homeowners at the newly completed Machakos Boma Yangu Estate, marking another milestone in the government\u2019s Affordable Housing Programme.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The President said the project exemplifies social integration, providing housing across all income categories to promote equitable access and inclusive communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a model for social integration, this estate provides housing across all income levels, ensuring equitable access and encouraging diverse, inclusive communities to thrive,\u201d said President Ruto.<\/p>\n<p>Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome noted that the estate enjoys proximity to key amenities including Machakos University, KMTC Machakos Campus, Machakos High School, Machakos Level 5 Hospital, and the county retail market \u2014 enhancing connectivity and access to essential services.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-14-at-16.40.50-1.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She added that more than 450 jobs were created during the construction phase, benefiting local youth, artisans, and suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThirty-nine artisans were formally assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, boosting their employability and future earnings,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Beneficiaries hailed the President for fulfilling his housing promise.<br \/>Beneard Nzau, a retired civil servant, said owning a home after retirement was once unimaginable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project is a game-changer. I never thought I\u2019d become a homeowner after retirement. Politicians should stop politicising such impactful initiatives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Faith Mueni Kioko, a 26-year-old person living with disability, could not hide her joy after receiving keys to her new studio apartment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInitially, I doubted that persons with disabilities would be considered. Owning this home is a gift from God,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Affordable Housing Board Acting CEO Sheila Waweru urged Kenyans to register on the Boma Yangu platform (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bomayangu.go.ke\/\">www.bomayangu.go.ke<\/a>) and start saving toward homeownership.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-14-at-16.40.51.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhase I of the project includes 220 units \u2014 60 studio apartments, 40 one-bedroom, 60 two-bedroom, and 60 three-bedroom units \u2014 located off Chumvi-Machakos-Kitui Road.
