Several people were injured, including Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, who sustained serious head injuries after being attacked by a group of youth. Despite the tension, IEBC officials said voting proceeded smoothly in most polling stations, with results streaming in steadily through the night.<\/p>\n<p>ODM supporters broke into celebrations as Boyd Were received his certificate \u2014 a symbolic victory for the party in the Nyanza region, barely a month after the death of its party leader Raila Odinga, who passed away in India.<\/p>\n<p>In Siaya County, Moses Omondi Okoth of ODM was elected Ugunja MP, securing 9,447 votes. The seat fell vacant following Ong\u2019ondo Were\u2019s assassination, which prompted both the Ugunja and Kasipul by-elections.<\/p>\n<p>In Mbeere North, Leonard Muthende of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was declared MP-elect after garnering 15,802 votes, narrowly edging out Newton Kariuki (Karish) of the Democratic Party (DP), who received 15,308 votes.<br \/>The closely contested race drew significant attention amid chaotic scenes at various polling stations, which heightened political tensions throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>The IEBC announced the results early Friday morning, with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who played a major role in the campaigns, present alongside other UDA leaders including Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku.<\/p>\n<p>In Nyamira, Jackson Mogusu of PDP won the Nyansiongo Ward seat with 2,759 votes, narrowly defeating UPA\u2019s Kevin Maranga, who secured 2,687 votes.<\/p>\n<p>In Mandera, UDA\u2019s Ahmed Maalim Hassan was elected Banisa MP after obtaining 10,431 votes, ahead of UPA\u2019s Nurdin Maalim Mohamed, who garnered 1,240 votes.<\/p>\n<p>In Machakos County, Antony Kisoi of Wiper won the Mumbuni North Ward by-election with 3,849 votes, reinforcing the party\u2019s strong presence in the region.<\/p>\n<p>In Samburu, UDA\u2019s Isabella Leshimpiro clinched victory in the Angata Nanyekie Ward seat with 1,239 votes.<\/p>\n<p>In Narok County, Douglas Twala Masikonde of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) was declared the winner of the Narok Town Ward seat after securing 6,007 votes, beating UDA\u2019s Robert Kanyinke Ole Kudate, who garnered 4,479 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The Narok race followed the death of MCA Lukas Kudate in February, making the by-election a high-stakes political battle.
