{"id":126156,"date":"2025-12-07T09:03:22","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T09:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/4-suspects-behind-fate-tenders-arrested-in-kitui-after-sh105000-fraud\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T09:03:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T09:03:22","slug":"4-suspects-behind-fate-tenders-arrested-in-kitui-after-sh105000-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/4-suspects-behind-fate-tenders-arrested-in-kitui-after-sh105000-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"4 suspects behind fate tenders arrested in Kitui after Sh105,000 fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 7 \u2014 Detectives in Kitui Central have arrested four suspects accused of running an elaborate fake-tender scheme that defrauded a businessman of Sh105,000 through a bogus Kenya Prisons Service supply contract.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects\u2014described as \u201csmooth-talking pretenders\u201d\u2014posed as senior Prisons officers and convinced the victim that he had won a contract to supply vegetables to the Kitui GK Prisons.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators say the group operated with the confidence of \u201cseasoned actors,\u201d using official-sounding language and forged documents to gain the businessman\u2019s trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the time the victim\u2019s intuition whispered \u2018something is off,\u2019 his cash had already taken a walk, never to return,\u201d the DCI said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives who had been tracking the syndicate moved in after weeks of covert surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>The four suspects\u2014identified as Clement Wachira, Andrew Kimani, Ann Waweru, and Rehema Makandi\u2014were arrested inside a black Toyota Harrier (registration KCV 543W), which officers believe was used to facilitate the fraud.<\/p>\n<p>A search of the vehicle uncovered an assortment of forged documents and items allegedly linked to the scheme, including 37 fake Kenya Prisons Service tender approval forms, two counterfeit Kenya Prisons job IDs, eight mobile phones, and six national ID cards belonging to different individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The DCI described the haul as evidence of a \u201cwell-oiled con machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court.
