{"id":12642,"date":"2024-03-14T04:04:01","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T04:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/14\/actress-olivia-munn-shares-cancer-diagnosis\/"},"modified":"2024-03-14T04:04:01","modified_gmt":"2024-03-14T04:04:01","slug":"actress-olivia-munn-shares-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/actress-olivia-munn-shares-cancer-diagnosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Actress Olivia Munn shares cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>US actress Olivia Munn has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has had four operations in the past 10 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Posting on Instagram, the 43-year-old Newsroom star said her surgeries had included a double mastectomy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Munn said the cancer was \u201caggressive\u201d and \u201cfast-moving\u201d, but was caught with \u201cenough time that I had options\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She added that she had \u201cwanted to get through the hardest parts before sharing\u201d the news.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Munn\u2019s health update comes three days after she attended the Oscars with her partner, comedian John Mulaney. They share a two-year-old son Malcolm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The actress, who has appeared in <em>Magic Mike, Iron Man 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse<\/em>, said she found out about the cancer after testing for 90 different cancer genes and going for a mammogram.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although those tests were negative, Munn said her doctor worked out her \u201cbreast cancer risk assessment score\u201d \u2013 which later led to further tests including a biopsy, which showed \u201cI had Luminal B cancer in both breasts\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m lucky\u2019<\/p>\n<p><span>Sharing her message alongside pictures and a video from the hospital, she wrote: \u201cLuminal B is an aggressive, fast-moving cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThirty days after that biopsy I had a double mastectomy. I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m lucky,\u201d she added. \u201cWe caught it with enough time that I had options.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She also said that, since the diagnosis, \u201cI\u2019ve only cried twice\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Munn ended the post by praising Mulaney, her family and friends, as well as doctors, nurses and hospital staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cFor being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThank you to the friends who\u2019ve had breast cancer and the friends who connected me to friends who\u2019ve had breast cancer for guiding me through some of my most uncertain and overwhelming moments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Fighting so hard\u2019<\/p>\n<p><span>Mulaney commented on the post, thanking Munn for \u201cfighting so hard to be here for us\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMalc and I adore you,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/actress-olivia-munn-shares-cancer-diagnosis\/\">Actress Olivia Munn shares cancer diagnosis<\/a> first appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/\">KBC<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US actress Olivia Munn has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has had four operations in the past 10 months.
