It has been taken down,\u201d the official told the network after the video was deleted.<\/p>\n<p>However, President Trump on Friday declined to apologise, saying he had watched only part of the video and was unaware of the offensive ending.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018It was fine\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said he viewed the beginning of the clip, which he described as focused on debunked claims of voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI looked at the beginning of it. It was fine,\u201d Trump said, according to CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a very strong post in terms of voter fraud. Nobody knew that that was in the end. If they would have looked, they would have seen it, and probably they would have had the sense to take it down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said he forwarded the video to a staffer after watching the initial portion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody slipped and missed a very small part,\u201d he said. When asked directly whether he would apologise, he responded: \u201cNo. I didn\u2019t make a mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris criticised the White House explanation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one believes this cover-up from the White House, especially since they originally defended the post. We are all clear-eyed about who Donald Trump is and what he believes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the White House had downplayed criticism, calling the backlash \u201cfake outrage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that the clip was \u201can internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King,\u201d urging media outlets to focus on other issues.<\/p>\n<p>The deletion of the post marked a sharp shift in tone from the administration\u2019s initial defence, CNN noted.<\/p>\n<p>Trump later described himself as the \u201cleast racist president\u201d following the controversy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am, by the way, the least racist president you\u2019ve had in a long time, as far as I\u2019m concerned,\u201d he said.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 7 \u2014 A racially offensive video targeting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama was removed from President Donald Trump\u2019s social media account after triggering widespread outrage, CNN reported.
