{"id":130554,"date":"2026-02-10T14:02:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T14:02:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/communications-authority-warns-kenyans-against-illegal-mobile-phone-brands-posing-health-risks\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T14:02:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T14:02:46","slug":"communications-authority-warns-kenyans-against-illegal-mobile-phone-brands-posing-health-risks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/communications-authority-warns-kenyans-against-illegal-mobile-phone-brands-posing-health-risks\/","title":{"rendered":"Communications Authority warns Kenyans against Illegal Mobile Phone Brands Posing Health Risks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 \u2013 The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has issued a public notice warning consumers against purchasing non-type approved mobile phones that pose significant safety and health risks.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority\u2019s Director General David Mugonyi stated that \u201crecent market surveillance revealed an influx of non-type approved phone brands including TINSIK, REALFONE, FONROX, BUNDY, X.ODA, SMBA, and others, which are strictly prohibited from being sold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CA regulates Kenya\u2019s ICT sector and ensures devices comply with national and international safety, health, and electromagnetic compatibility standards through a Type Approval process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Kenyans to avoid buying phones from these brand and purchase mobile phones only from licensed vendors listed on the CA website.<\/p>\n<p>He further emphasized the need to verify phones\u2019 Type Approval status via the CA\u2019s online licensee register.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCheck phone authenticity using the *#06# code and verify the IMEI via SMS to 1555 or on the CA website.
