KISUMU, Kenya, Feb 20 \u2013 The Luo leaders have declared that the community has no negotiations to make with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying his development record in the Nyanza region provides sufficient reason for continued support.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking in Karachuonyo during the burial of his uncle, Washington Ongati, Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo highlighted infrastructure expansion, improved public services, and increased government presence under the Kenya Kwanza administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Luo community has nothing to negotiate with President Ruto ahead of 2027. The development record on the ground is clear and visible to everyone,\u201d Omollo said.<\/p>\n

He noted that while the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is free to engage in political talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), residents should focus on tangible projects delivered during the President\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n

\u201cODM as a national party has every right to negotiate with UDA, but for the ordinary mwananchi, what matters is roads, water, electricity and opportunities. Every sector in Nyanza has been touched,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Omollo pointed to ongoing road construction, enhanced water supply systems, and investments in the blue economy around Lake Victoria as evidence of inclusive development. <\/p>\n

He said that by 2027, a majority of roads in the region will be tarmacked, opening up rural areas to trade and investment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Karachuonyo, for example, we have the ring road project ongoing and water supply being enhanced. By 2027, most of our roads across the region will be tarmacked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Fully two-term\u2019<\/h2>\n

Nyando MP Jared Okello echoed the sentiments, saying political engagements led by ODM leader Oburu Oginga are intended to strengthen national unity rather than divide communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe negotiations being spearheaded by Oburu Oginga are for the benefit of the entire nation, but as a community we are fully in the two-term movement for President Ruto,\u201d Okello said.<\/p>\n

He urged eligible voters to register and secure national identity cards in preparation for the 2027 polls, noting that ID issuance has increased across the region to boost voter participation.<\/p>\n

The leaders dismissed claims of political division, insisting that continued cooperation with the national government would accelerate socio-economic transformation in Nyanza.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
