\u201cScream 7,\u201d the latest instalment in the 30-year-old slasher series featuring yet another Ghostface killer, held strong in second place at $17.3 million (KSh. 2.2B) in the United States and Canada, according to Exhibitor Relations.<\/p>\n
The Paramount film features franchise veterans Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bride!\u201d, Maggie Gyllenhaal\u2019s genre-hopping take on 1935\u2019s \u201cThe Bride of Frankenstein\u201d starring Oscar hopeful Jessie Buckley and past Oscar winner Christian Bale, opened in third place at $7.3 million (KSh. 925.7M).<\/p>\n
\u201cWarner Bros. has had recent success making films with auteur writer\/directors and big budgets,\u201d Gross said, citing Academy Award frontrunners \u201cSinners\u201d and \u201cOne Battle After Another.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis time, the reception is weak.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sony\u2019s family-friendly animated film \u201cGOAT\u201d, the story of an undersized goat who wants to join a basketball-like \u201croarball\u201d team, finished in fourth place at $6.6 million (KSh. 852.4M)<\/p>\n
The film was produced by NBA superstar Stephen Curry, who also takes on a voice role.<\/p>\n
\u201cWuthering Heights\u201d, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as the doomed lovers Cathy and Heathcliff from Emily Bront\u00eb\u2019s classic novel, dropped to fifth place at $3.75 million (KSh. 484.3M).<\/p>\n
