{"id":134311,"date":"2026-03-15T10:02:59","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T10:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/two-convicted-for-farming-on-protected-road-reserve-along-njoro-mau-summit-highway\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T10:02:59","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T10:02:59","slug":"two-convicted-for-farming-on-protected-road-reserve-along-njoro-mau-summit-highway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/two-convicted-for-farming-on-protected-road-reserve-along-njoro-mau-summit-highway\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Convicted for Farming on Protected Road Reserve Along Njoro\u2013Mau Summit Highway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 15 \u2013 Two people have been convicted after they were found cultivating crops within a protected road reserve along the Njoro\u2013Mau Summit road in Nakuru County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) said the suspects were arrested during an enforcement operation conducted in the South Rift Region along the Njoro\u2013Mau Summit Road (B129).<\/p>\n<p>The operation was led by a Roads Superintendent in collaboration with the authority\u2019s Axle Load Enforcement Unit.<\/p>\n<p>According to KeNHA, the two individuals were found illegally farming within the road reserve \u00a0an area designated for road safety, maintenance and future expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were subsequently arraigned in court where they were both convicted.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the offenders was fined Sh10,000 or, in default, will serve three months in prison.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2026\/03\/kenha-road-reserve-2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>KeNHA warned members of the public against encroaching on road reserves, noting that activities such as farming, construction and other developments within the protected corridors are illegal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoad reserves are protected areas.
