WASHINGTON \u2014 US forces will begin implementing a blockade of \u201call maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports\u201d on Monday at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, US Central Command said in a statement Sunday.<\/p>\n
The blockade, in accordance with US President Donald Trump\u2019s proclamation, will be enforced \u201cimpartially\u201d against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, according to the statement, which was posted on social media platform X.<\/p>\n
US Central Command forces \u201cwill not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
The statement came a few hours after Trump announced on Truth Social that the US Navy would begin blocking ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that the United States and allied countries would deploy minesweepers to the strait to clear sea mines and secure shipping lanes.<\/p>\n
