US rapper Kanye West said on Tuesday he had postponed his show in Marseille, France\u2019s second-largest city, until further notice. The 48-year-old, now known as Ye, said on X he decided after \u201cmuch thought and consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n
He had been due to perform on June 11 at \u200cthe Orange Velodrome in Marseille.<\/p>\n
Media reports said French Interior \u2060Minister Laurent Nunez had been seeking to block Ye from performing.<\/p>\n
Marseille\u2019s mayor, Benoit Payan, said in \u200bMarch that Ye was not welcome to perform \u200cin the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cI refuse to let Marseille become a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism,\u201d he \u200csaid on X on March 4.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Britain refused permission for \u200bYe to enter the country over his past antisemitic comments and celebration of Nazism after he was booked to headline \u200bLondon\u2019s Wireless Festival in July.<\/p>\n
Ye was barred from Australia \u200blast July after releasing \u201cHeil Hitler\u201d, a \u200bsong promoting Nazism. He also advertised a swastika T-shirt for sale on his \u200bwebsite.<\/p>\n
In January, Ye took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal to apologise for his behaviour, which he attributed to an undiagnosed brain injury and untreated bipolar disorder, \u2060and renounced past expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n
The rapper has \u2060performed in \u200bthe US and Mexico City this year.<\/p>\n
