{"id":140346,"date":"2026-05-08T15:02:51","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/night-closure-announced-for-uhuru-highway-as-kenha-schedules-maintenance-works\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T15:02:51","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:02:51","slug":"night-closure-announced-for-uhuru-highway-as-kenha-schedules-maintenance-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/night-closure-announced-for-uhuru-highway-as-kenha-schedules-maintenance-works\/","title":{"rendered":"Night Closure Announced for Uhuru Highway as KeNHA Schedules Maintenance Works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya May 8 \u2013 Motorists using Uhuru Highway in Nairobi have been advised to plan ahead after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a temporary night-time closure of a key section of the busy road to allow for routine maintenance works.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a public notice issued, KeNHA said Uhuru Highway (A8 Road) between Museum Hill Interchange and Westlands Roundabout will be closed on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.<\/p>\n<p>The authority said the closure is necessary to facilitate essential highway maintenance works aimed at improving road safety and ensuring better long-term traffic flow along one of Nairobi\u2019s busiest transport corridors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of Uhuru Highway (A8 Road) between Museum Hill Interchange and Westlands Roundabout will be temporarily closed to allow for highway maintenance works,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>During the closure period, motorists intending to access Uhuru Highway and Chiromo Road (Nakuru-bound) have been advised to use alternative routes, including Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Westlands Ring Road, and the Nairobi Expressway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2026\/05\/Uhuru-Highway10-scaled-1.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those heading towards Uhuru Highway (Mombasa-bound) will be redirected through Parklands Ring Road, Ojijo Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, University Way, and the Nairobi Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>The authority urged motorists to strictly adhere to the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be deployed on site to manage diversions and ease congestion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotorists are advised to follow the traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.
