US actor James Handy, known for his roles in films including \u2018Jumanji\u2019 and \u2018Top Gun: Maverick\u2019, has been stabbed to death at his home in Los Angeles, police have said.<\/p>\n
Handy, who was 81, was found unconscious in the front garden of his home in Tarzana, California, on Wednesday with several stab wounds to the chest.<\/p>\n
Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy\u2019s girlfriend, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Los Angeles Police Department said.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a report of \u201cunknown trouble\u201d after a caller dialled 911 and told police: \u201cI am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.\u201d<\/p>\n
Handy was born in New York and appeared in a string of films and TV shows over six decades, often as a supporting character or for a small number of episodes.<\/p>\n
Despite rarely being the leading star, Handy racked up a long string of credits, including \u2018NYPD Blue\u2019, \u2018K-9\u2019, \u2018Law & Order\u2019, \u2018CSI: NY\u2019, \u2018Logan\u2019, \u2018Alias\u2019, \u2018Castle\u2019, \u2018NCIS\u2019, \u2018The West Wing\u2019, \u2018Arachnophobia\u2019, \u2018The X-Files \u2018 and \u2018Murder, She Wrote\u2019.<\/p>\n
His most recent film role was 2022\u2019s \u2018Top Gun: Maverick\u2019, in which he played Jimmy, a bartender who works with the character played by Jennifer Connelly, Tom Cruise\u2019s love interest.<\/p>\n
