{"id":145030,"date":"2026-06-27T09:02:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T09:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/amnesty-says-arrested-activists-were-found-by-roadside-after-going-missing\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T09:02:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T09:02:54","slug":"amnesty-says-arrested-activists-were-found-by-roadside-after-going-missing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/amnesty-says-arrested-activists-were-found-by-roadside-after-going-missing\/","title":{"rendered":"Amnesty Says Arrested Activists Were Found by Roadside After Going Missing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 27 \u2013 Human rights lobby Amnesty Kenya has claimed that six people who allegedly went missing after being arrested during the #JusticeForOurFallen procession have been found abandoned by the roadside and are currently receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement shared on X, Amnesty Kenya identified the six as Collins Ochieng, Muteti Mulinge, Michael Ngigi, Elisha Alam, Fredrick Ojiro and Christine Walubengo.<\/p>\n<p>The organization alleged that the individuals were beaten and subjected to torture while in custody following their arrest during the demonstrations held on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCollins Ochieng, Muteti Mulinge, Michael Ngigi, Elisha Alam, Fredrick Ojiro and Christine Walubengo, who went missing after being arrested during yesterday\u2019s #JusticeForOurFallen procession, have been found abandoned by the roadside,\u201d Amnesty Kenya said.<\/p>\n<p>The rights group said the six are currently undergoing medical treatment after allegedly suffering torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty Kenya has now called for immediate investigations by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese allegations of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment demand an immediate, independent and impartial investigation by IPOA and KNCHR, and those responsible must be held accountable,\u201d the organization stated.<\/p>\n<p>The lobby also raised concern over the whereabouts of Davis Lichuma, who it says remains missing following the protests.<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty Kenya urged the National Police Service (NPS) to immediately disclose his whereabouts and ensure his safe release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery passing moment without answers heightens concern for his safety,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The claims come amid growing scrutiny over police conduct during demonstrations linked to the #JusticeForOurFallen movement, which commemorates victims killed during anti-government protests in June 2024.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 27 \u2013 Human rights lobby Amnesty Kenya has claimed that six people who allegedly went missing after being arrested during the #JusticeForOurFallen procession have been found abandoned by the roadside and are currently receiving medical treatment.
