NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 27 \u2013 Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has asked Kenyans to give him three to four more weeks before he publicly declares his political direction, saying he wants to make a decision based on the country\u2019s future rather than political pressure or personal popularity.<\/p>\n
The former close ally of President William Ruto, who has since become one of the government\u2019s fiercest critics on economic matters, said he has received overwhelming calls from Kenyans demanding clarity on where he stands politically ahead of the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have seen the overwhelming feedback from Kenyans, and I appreciate that many people want to hear my political position,\u201d Nyoro said. \u201cI request Kenyans to give me three to four weeks to share my specific views on political formations and the direction we need to take as a country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nyoro admitted he can no longer be considered part of the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisting his public criticism of the government\u2019s handling of the economy reflects that position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no way I can continue speaking the way I do about the economy if I was still supporting the government. We no longer support the government in the way it is running the affairs of the economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nyoro, however, ruled out rushing into any political alliance, saying he wants to avoid repeating mistakes made in the past.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis decision is not about my political convenience. It is about what Kenya will become. If I wanted popularity, I know exactly what I should say today and I would become a political sensation immediately. But after that, where do we leave Kenyans?\u201d he posed.<\/p>\n
While revealing that he remains friends with many leaders across the political divide, Nyoro said any future alliance would be guided by what is best for the country rather than personal relationships.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not want to be in a situation where a government is formed and by December 2027 Kenyans are once again disappointed. The decision I make must be one I can defend for many years to come,\u201d he said.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
