Argentina captain Lionel Messi says it is \u201ccrazy\u201d to be facing Spain\u2019s Lamine Yamal in Sunday\u2019s World Cup final after being photographed with him as a baby.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2007 Lamine Yamal\u2019s parents won a charity photoshoot at Barcelona in which 20-year-old Messi held their five-month-old baby.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Messi during a news conference in New York, NFL legend Tom Brady called the photos \u201cvery prophetic\u201d.<\/p>\n

Messi said: \u201cThat photo is incredible. The fact that we\u2019re both playing in the World Cup now is crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lamine Yamal made his Barcelona debut at 15 and has inherited the number 10 shirt from Messi.<\/p>\n

He helped Spain win Euro 2024 and, now aged 19, could become the youngest player to win the European Championships and the World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s one of the best in the world right now,\u201d said 39-year-old Messi.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish him luck because his success will be Barcelona\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll try to keep him from playing at his best. Spain has a great team, not just him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a tremendous player \u2013 a global star. He\u2019s 19 years old and has his whole career ahead of him. I wish him the best, but we\u2019ll give it our all to ensure he doesn\u2019t become champion this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
