{"id":16082,"date":"2024-03-21T09:04:21","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T09:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/21\/bitok-receives-112700-passport-booklets-more-expected-in-april\/"},"modified":"2024-03-21T09:04:21","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T09:04:21","slug":"bitok-receives-112700-passport-booklets-more-expected-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/bitok-receives-112700-passport-booklets-more-expected-in-april\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitok receives 112,700 passport booklets, more expected in April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 21 \u2014 The Directorate of Immigration Services has received an additional 112,700 passport booklets as the government moves to address passport delays in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Immigration Principal Julius Bitok said that the consignment, which arrived in the country on Wednesday, comprises 92,400 50-page (B-series) booklets and 20,300 66-page (C-Series) booklets. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis consignment is in addition to 50,000,50-page booklets received last week,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Bitok said the department expects more booklets, including the 34-page (A-series), in April.  <\/p>\n<p>He said the department is committed to processing applications on a first-in-first-out basis. <\/p>\n<p>PS Bitok advised applicants with pending 34-page passports who have an urgent need to travel to upgrade their applications to the 50-page booklet through the eCitizen portal, to capitalize on available booklets. <\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that no physical visit to the Immigration offices is necessary to apply for the upgrade. <\/p>\n<p>To monitor application status, Bitok advised applicants to send an SMS with their eCitizen application reference code to 22222.  <\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, he highlighted the Directorate\u2019s efforts to enhance passport issuance capacity and reduce waiting times. <\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the procurement of two modern passport printing machines set for commissioning by April and the installation of additional servers to bolster system stability and data security among gains.<\/p>\n<p>Bitok affirmed the department\u2019s commitment to undertaking a comprehensive infrastructural upgrade of its facilities to create a user-friendly environment and accommodate a growing number of applicants. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 21 \u2014 The Directorate of Immigration Services has received an additional 112,700 passport booklets as the government moves to address passport delays in the country.
