{"id":17031,"date":"2024-03-23T10:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-23T10:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/23\/wetangula-natembeya-supporters-clash-amid-escalating-supremacy-war\/"},"modified":"2024-03-23T10:03:08","modified_gmt":"2024-03-23T10:03:08","slug":"wetangula-natembeya-supporters-clash-amid-escalating-supremacy-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/wetangula-natembeya-supporters-clash-amid-escalating-supremacy-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetangula, Natembeya supporters clash amid escalating supremacy war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 <\/strong>\u2014 <strong>A chaotic confrontation ensued in Trans Nzoia County on Friday when supporters of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya clashed during a burial ceremony in an escalating supremacy war.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The violence prompted intervention by the police after the rival groups disrupted the burial ceremony of the wife to former nominated MCA Phillip Nyongesa.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the incident, Wetangula called on the leaders, including Natembeya, to exercise restraint in public events, asserting that Kenya is a peaceful nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere should be no sacred cows anywhere in this country. Kenya is a peaceful country,\u201d Wetangula said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf [we] want to grow as a country, we need peace and respect amongst the citizenry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Governor Natembeya, on his part, remained resolute in his commitment to advocating for the welfare of the region and the community.<\/p>\n<p>Natembeya maintained that no amount of intimidation would stop him in his resolve to stand up for the people in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey [opponents] think that if they sponsor chaos this fight [to reclaim our place] will stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just the beginning!\u201d the former administrator charged.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Full force\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha condemned the violent clash, labeling it \u201cembarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She called on State agencies to apply the full force of law without compromise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to tell the leaders, that people must stay in peace, and where there is no order, order will be brought by force, by fire,\u201d she warned.<\/p>\n<p>Nakhumicha noted that every Kenyan desires to co-exist peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>Natembeya intensified his onslaught against Wetangula in February accusing a section of leaders from the Western region of failing the region and focusing on selfish interests.<\/p>\n<p>The Trans Nzoia county boss dismissed leaders from the region for imposing themselves as kingpins and doing nothing to elevate the status of the region development-wise.<\/p>\n<p>Natembeya accused some leaders from the community of using their political parties to auction off the community\u2019s political strength.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Luhya leaders have never sacrificed for anybody, they ride on opportunism and use their political parties to trade the community\u2019s voting power,\u201d Natembeya said on February 21.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 \u2014 A chaotic confrontation ensued in Trans Nzoia County on Friday when supporters of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya clashed during a burial ceremony in an escalating supremacy war.
