{"id":17540,"date":"2024-03-24T13:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-24T13:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/24\/mokayas-swearing-in-as-crj-slated-for-monday\/"},"modified":"2024-03-24T13:03:08","modified_gmt":"2024-03-24T13:03:08","slug":"mokayas-swearing-in-as-crj-slated-for-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/mokayas-swearing-in-as-crj-slated-for-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Mokaya\u2019s swearing in as CRJ slated for Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 \u2014 Newly-appointed Chief Registrar of the Judiciary (CRJ)  Winfridah Mokaya\u00a0is set to take oath on Monday, March 25.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice Martha Koome gazetted Mokaya\u2019s appointment<strong> <\/strong>for a five-year term following interviews by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).<\/p>\n<p>Koome who doubles up as the Chairperson of the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>JSC\u00a0which settled on Mokaya following day-long interviews on Monday formalized the appointment in a Gazette Notice dated March 19, circulated on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mokaya was among seven candidates interviewed by a panel led by Koome.<\/p>\n<p>Others included Macharia Rose Wachuka, currently serving as Chief Justice Martha Koome\u2019s Chief of Staff, and Ndemo Paul Maina, the Deputy CRJ who assumed the role in an acting capacity following the exit of former CRJ Anne Amadi in January.<\/p>\n<p>The panel also interviewed Ouma Jack Busalile, Wambeti Ann Ireri, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen, and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission listed the candidates after considering forty-three applications.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission selected the seven after examining the applications against the legal and constitutional conditions outlined.<\/p>\n<p>JSC had invited the public to avail, in writing, any information of interest on any of the shortlisted candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Amadi served for 10 years since January 2014 having secured a second term.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Registrar is tasked with preparing estimates of expenditure and administering the Judiciary Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The officer holder is also Secretary to the Judicial Service Commission and the National Council for Administration of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>The Registrar is responsible for running the day-to-day operations and administration of Human Resources in the Judicial Service and supervising support services in the Judiciary, in particular planning, development, and organization of staff.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 \u2014 Newly-appointed Chief Registrar of the Judiciary (CRJ) Winfridah Mokaya\u00a0is set to take oath on Monday, March 25.
